For anyone who rents, or has rented, privately in England

What actually happens when you rent in England?

There is a lot of data about what renting costs and almost none about what renters actually do, whether anyone photographs the place on day one, how long repairs really take, and how often people just accept a deposit deduction because arguing feels impossible. We're asking directly, and publishing the answers free for anyone to use.

If you need help right now

This survey is research, not a support service, and nobody reads the answers in real time. If something is going wrong in your tenancy today, these are the people to talk to:

What we do with your answers

Northwind Labs Ltd, which runs TenantProof, is the data controller for this survey. Answers are stored anonymously and used to publish aggregate statistics and anonymous quotes. We do not sell them, and we do not pass them to landlords, letting agents or anyone else.

If you give us your email, we use it once, to send you the report. To have it removed before then, email privacy@tenantproof.co.uk. Full detail is in our privacy policy.
